Hi-I’m Loretta Goddard.
I live on a small farm with my husband, Hule Goddard, in Jessamine county Kentucky. In this peaceful place we walk fields, drink coffee, think thoughts, take pictures, plant gardens, feed chickens, dream dreams, read books, write poems, pray prayers, visit with friends, record journals, cook meals, mow trails, hike woods, and soak up Bluegrass and Palisades vistas.
It is our hope and desire to steward this land faithfully and carefully. We do harvest some hay on the land and I raise some chickens for eggs. We have restored some of our pastureland to native plants, forbes, and grasses.
The farm includes a strip of cliff along the spectacular KY River Palisades and, as Wendell Berry’s Mad Farmer would say:
Our “main crop is the forest that (we) did not plant, that (we) will not live to harvest.”
I have two glorious adult daughters, two sons-in law, one phenomenal granddaughter and a sweet growing grandson. My husband, Hule Goddard, is an Anglican priest and retreat leader.
My education is in Nursing and Spanish. I have a Registered Nursing license and certificates in Faith Community Nursing and spiritual direction. I am a Christian and my walk with Jesus informs my life, thoughts, and writing. I have written a book published in 2025 about our family’s last years with our father. It is called: My Fading Father: An End of Life Journey. It is for all of us traveling life’s full circle of caregiving and being cared for. If you or anyone you know might be helped by it, it can be purchased on Amazon: https://a.co/d/jclfiKa

I hope these writings and photos will extend an invitation for you to sit a while and “visit” as you read.
